Introduction

This guide discusses the basic counting line register type. This register counts the number of people who cross the line.

Each counting line is directional indicated by the arrows shown along the length of each line. People must cross the line in the associated direction in order to generate a valid count increment.
By default there are two basic count line registers enabled on a device when it comes out of the factory. This provides IN and OUT counting by default, and requires just a few settings changes to make the Vector count accurately.

The default lines are called Line 1 and Line 2. Note the red and green colours in use. Each register and associated line that you add will be coloured differently:

To edit the underlying settings of a basic count line register click the edit button next to the register in the registers list.

The Edit Register window will then open:

Here you can change the name of the count line register to anything you like. For example 'IN' or 'OUT' or any arrangement of characters that might be required for identification of the register in your data reporting schema.

The five yellow buttons are for:

Show a summary of the current settings.

Copy the current register to another one.

Reset the line to a single element straight line (removes any additional 'drag' points that may have been added)

Flip the count line counting direction.

Delete the line and register.

A number of different count modes are provided:

Height filtering is disabled by default. But if enabled, counts will only increment when targets fall within the configured lower and upper bound values:

For more details of the Height Filtering functionality, click here.

Staff Detection is disabled by default. If staff are wearing the Irisys staff detection lanyards you can choose to count staff separately, or more commonly exclude staff from the visitor count.

For more details of the Staff Detection functionality, click here.

The Tags functionality, allows a common direction to be configured from known values. This means the IN or OUT direction can be configured from two standard values rather than relying on installers typing a common value. By default Tags are Not set:

The Height Histogram functionality is disabled by default:

For more details of the Height Histogram functionality see here.

The Remote Devices and Registers (Push) section allows this register and its corresponding value to be sent to another Vector device with a corresponding Receiver register configured:

For more details of the Remote Devices And Registers functionality click here.

Once settings are complete, make sure you click the Save Register button before closing the Edit Register dialog window.

Don't forget to configure the position and shape of the corresponding line on the field of view.
