Introduction
This quick guide discusses the Counting functionality available on the Irisys Vector devices and how to configure it. A full understanding of the below settings is essential in order to achieve the high accuracy that the Vector 4D devices are capable of.
Instructions
The majority of count data is acquired via virtual line crossing detection. A brand new Vector will come with two count lines enabled, and will require very little configuration for standard 'IN' and 'OUT' counting.
Count lines can be moved and shaped within the 'ground plane view'.
Therefore, for the most accurate counting, these count lines must be positioned in a suitable location and arrangement within the active field of view so that anyone that should be counted will cross the corresponding count line.
To move and position lines the setup must be in ‘Line edit mode’:
Lines can now be moved by clicking and dragging. By default, lines are straight but additional ‘drag’ points can be created by clicking on the smaller circles in the middle of a straight-line segment. In this way, complex arrangements can be made as required.
It is important that lines are only placed over the floor where people can physically walk. If required, you must move the ends of lines so that no part of a line is mapped up a wall, or anywhere where it is not possible for a person to walk. Additionally, if counting IN/OUT of a door, and the door can be seen opening and closing within the field of view, lines must be positioned across the floor in front of the door, well away from that movement. When a swing door opens toward the Vector, it is normal in these cases, to configure an arc arrangement on the floor just outside the swing of the door.
