The Endurance provides 2 external power inputs via the M12 PoE connector and the M16 12-pin connector.

From time to time we are asked if 2 power supplies could be used as a form of redundancy.

Many industrial devices offer this kind of option.

However it is useful to understand the limitations of Endurance when designing a system around this benefit.

Special Note

Power supply redundancy was not a part of the core design of the sensor.

Seamless operation cannot be guaranteed when one of the two power supplies fail.

However, we believe the protection afforded, even within the limitations may be of benefit in certain situations.

It is our official recommendation that for critical applications some form of UPS device is used (AC or DC) with the sensor connected to a single power supply line.

It could be said that the most robust is to deploy redundancy for the 24V power connection (M16), using the M12 connection purely for communication
