All sensors are able to manually set an anlog signal value independent of the signal level representing the process temperature

The purpose of this is to check the analog output calibration and/or to use the sensor as a signal injector for checking the function , scaling or calibration of a control system input

Using this function together with a calibrated DMM offers an easy and low cost way of checking the calibration of the sensor analog output and the control system analog input

The Thermalert T4.0 defines the signal level as percentage of the total signal snan

For example, when using the 4-20mA oupput, 50% will be equal to 16mA (total span/2)+4mA. With a standard LT (-20 to 600°C) model, this 50% signal is equivalent to 445°C
