Q. I have an MP300 and there is tape on the upper part of the window - is this normal?

A. Yes, this is an adaptation for the reduced dual mirror height  See Article

Q. When I attempt to connect to the linescanner via Telnet I am prompted for a password?

A. This should not happen if you add the port number at the end c:telnet scanneripaddress 2727

Q. If the specific linescanner spare windows are not available, or I have an FPI linescanner but only have Raytek spare windows. or vice versa, what are my options?

A. You can order or use the Raytek TMP150 or FPI MP scanner windows as they are of the same design  See Article

Q. Can we use the MP150/ScanIR3 protocol manual to develop a program using Visual Studio.Net (C#)?

A. For the development of software via protocol manual, any development environment can be used for developing an interface and working with the stream. We are using Visual Studio.net(C#) in manufacturing calibration software.

Q. Can we OPC directly via Scanner Head?

A.  The scanner doesn’t have built-in OPC in the head. Our OPC comes via DTDP and other software we use. Our software is OPC-Server and the user needs to be an OPC-Client.

Q. How can I compare Ircon, Raytek and FPI linescanner basic information for help specifying a replacement?

A. See article ScanIR2 - ScanIR3 - MP150 - FPI-MP Overview

Q. The HR linescanner is rated to -40°C (ambient temperature) and has an internal heater, at what temperature does it switch on?

A. From a reported internal temperature of 10°C and below.

Q. Is the an ambient temperature rating for air cooling of the scanner?

A. No, there is no official rating. The internal pipework offers insufficient surface area for air cooling to be effective. However, we do know (anecdotally from a glass tempering machine OEM), that if the incoming air is cooled (Ex-Air cooler), just before entry to the scanner you can extend the rating by up to 7 degrees Celsius. This is useful only in applications where the scanner internal temperature is marginal without cooling. We also recommend using the internal relay to act as an internal temperature watchdog (Device Sector in DTDP Configurator). Further information in article MP150/300 Cooling pipe route and dimensions

Q. What revision of firmware and software is needed to use the "Temperature Adjustment" feature (application calibration in ini file)?

A. Scanner firmware must be >= 3.46. The feature was added in DTDP 3.9.0.18 (January 2018) and the interface was moved to the Scanner Commands section with the final pre-release candidate 3.9.0.21 (October 2019) before the full release of 3.10.0.0 (January 2020). See How-To guide DTDP - Temperature Adjustment (ini file based application calibration)

Q. What are the Ethernet M12 to RJ45 Cable wire color code for the red high temperature cable?

A. Short information below, further information in article MP150 and MP300 M12/RJ45 Pin Out and Cable Colors

Q. What are the default serial parameter for MP150/300?

A. baud rate 9600, 8 data bits, no parity bit, 1 stop bit, no flow control

Q. Which baud rates are supported?

A. 9600, 57.6 kBaud, 115 kBaud, 230 kBaud

Q. Can MP150/300 be installed as replacement for ScanIR2 within existing ScanIR2 water-cooled enclosure?

A. Yes.  Use these accessories along with the MP150/300 unit:

5352654A-MP-ENC-SCNIR2 Direct ScanIR2/3 replacement enclosure for MP with quick connector
5352668A-MP-WCREPKIT-SCNIR2 Replacement kit - MP scanner into ScanIR2 WC housing

Q. What does the scanner display if the target temp exceeds the range of the scanner?

A. The scanner software does not display any notification if the temperature range of the target exceeds the upper or lower temperature range of the scanner. Only the min/max scanner-capable temperature will be displayed and only the min 0mA/max 20mA analog signal will be outputted.

Q. Are there any concerns with mounting the scanner to obtain a vertical scan line vs a horizontal scan line?

A. No concerns regarding short-term or long-term operational or performance impacts.
