Introduction

This document gives an example of installing the Datapaq Insight software on a network server and setting up a client PC.  The screenshots are based on Windows XP. 18 April 2011

Installation

First, the software needs to be installed on a drive on the server. The user should be logged in as an Administrator with write access to the server drive. Run the normal setup file for the software, but choose a network folder as the destination. In the example below, the install location is:

\\Datapaq5\DEVELOPMENT\FILESERVER-E\Development\Datapaq Insight\Reflow

Setting up Client PC

Once the software has been installed on the server, the client PCs need to be set-up. This will install the USB drivers as well as link the client PCs to the installation on the server so that the software does not need to be installed on each individual PC. Therefore the steps shown below are required for all client PCs that will be using the software. Note: A license should be purchased for each user.

Using File Explorer, navigate to the network folder location of the installed Insight software:

In the folder where Insight was installed on the server will be a program called NetSetup.exe.  If extensions are not visible, then this program will be referred to as NetSetup and the Type will be Application.

Run NetSetup.exe and follow the prompts.  This will install the USB drivers and set-up the link between the client PC and the Insight software installation on the server:

At the end of the installation, there will be a desktop short-cut on the client PC which can be used to run the software from the network.
