Measuring the temperature of aluminum is challenging due to its highly reflective surface. Reflections from ambient light or hot objects further complicate the process, making it difficult to achieve consistent readings (repeatability) with a single-color sensor in such conditions.

The E2RL (2-color/ratio) sensor, when set with the correct slope value, ensures better repeatability and accuracy for this application.

Application-1

Billet temperature at the exit of the induction furnace :

Temperature readings 440 to 460 Deg C

Slope value: 1.0.40

The billet pieces are heated from the Induction furnace and exit on the chain conveyor back to back.

Customer Feedback

Measurements are very much promising and E2RL provided batter repeatability compared to AST make 1-color sensor.

Application-2

Strip (Aluminium frame) temperature at the exit of pusher :

Temperature readings 520 to 540 Deg C

Slope value: 1.040

A pre-heated giant round billet pushed out from the die and shape the Aluminium into strip/frame depending on die.

Customer Feedback

Measurements are close to T/C reading using slope value 1.040 and that too without any post processing considering moving object.
