Data partition not found, or could not be mounted
Type: This is an 'Error' message (Red highlight).
Source: This originates from the Vector device itself.
Symptoms: Device will not be operational.
Cause: This error can occur if the SD card in a Vector has a corrupt data partition or the SD card has failed completely.
If the device is booted up and the SD card is inadvertently removed (during installation for example), this error may occur. (Note, never remove the SD card when Vector is powered).
Lastly, if an SD card is replaced, with a completely blank SD card, this error will occur (as well as other error messages).
Fix: To fix this issue, may require direct access to the device, but a format of the affected partition via Estate Manager may suffice.
First ensure you have a Live connection to the device and then choose the Format System Storage option from the Actions menu:
Ensure that the Format Type is set to Data from the drop down and then click the Format button.
Formatting of the partition will take a few mins.
If after formatting the error remains, ensure that the SD card is still present. If knocked during installation this could have caused it to pop out or get lost completely. Ensure that the Vector is powered off first, and simply reseat the card by gently pushing it. If it is seated correctly it will pop out and a second push will seat it correctly. If a first push seats it, then it was not already seated correctly, and that will most likely be all that is required.
If a reseat does not fix the issue then the card may need re-imaging. The imaging process takes about 10 minutes and you just need a laptop with an SD card reader. Full instructions and the software and image file required are available from here.
If a re-image fails, then the card may be faulty and need replacing. Replaced cards will also need re-imaging.
