Introduction

After running the SafeCount setup wizard on each device, a number of default settings will be automatically configured for you. These will work well in the majority of cases, but for improved accuracy it is strongly recommended that partners make the effort to optimise settings before leaving site.

Underlying Configuration

It should be pointed out that the setup wizard configures the majority of settings which are freely accessible using the standard RIFT setup software. In other words, once the SafeCount wizard has configured its settings, you are free to make changes as required.

It should be noted that the SafeCount wizard automatically adds and configures quite a few registers which are required for the SafeCount functionality, as below.
Please do not delete any of these registers as the SafeCount functionality will break in some way - possibly in a way that will not be immediately obvious.

Master/Node Wide Tracker

The concept of master and nodes is used when a single device cannot cover a wide doorway. In these cases you install the devices spaced out in front of the door way so that the combined field of views will cover the doorway. You then choose one of the devices to be the 'master' unit with the rest being configured as nodes.

If you've already installed your Primary/Secondary device and followed the Setup Wizard, that unit will be the master and you simply need to install and configure the nodes, then return to the master and add those nodes to the configuration.

For details of configuring devices to be nodes and then adding those nodes to a master see here.
Once the master and nodes are set to work together, see here for setting the positioning information of each unit.
Once the master and node(s) are correctly configured, you will need to modify the default count lines. See below.

Count Lines

The default counting line configuration will be a U shape around the door. It is unlikely that these will be perfect for every door, so should be modified as required, based on standard Irisys count line configuration recommendations.

For details of accessing the underlying counting lines, and re-positioning them, see here.
Once lines are moved, you must perfectly align them to ensure the IN and OUT counting lines are operating correctly. See here for how to align correctly.

Height Filters

One of the main usages for SafeCount devices during the pandemic was in supermarkets - which remained open throughout. Supermarkets by the very nature were prevalent with trolleys so a default height filter is configured automatically in order to avoid those trollies from generating any additional unwanted count increments.

In non supermarket environments these filter settings may require lowering, especially if the inclusion of child counts is required.

To access the height filter settings, see here. The registers to modify are labelled, 'In 1' and 'Out 1', as shown above.
