Introduction

This section discusses the Recordings tab in the RIFT setup software. This tab allows you to schedule recordings of activity that the device does for later viewing and accuracy confirmation.

The recording is stored on to the onboard SD card (so ensure that there is enough space on the card), and the recording is not simply a video (AVI) file. In the recording file is the video stream from the camera, the 'Time-of-flight' data, the targets that have been tracked and the register changes corresponding to any valid line crossings seen (plus any other register type value changes), in one bespoke file.

The file can then be played back via the Irisys Validation functionality to see what the Vector did - did it count correctly, did it miss anyone, did it count other non-human objects - and allows you to provide a percentage accuracy figure, or the ability to go back to the setup phase to improve the accuracy by repositioning the lines, or changing the height filtering, or whatever the validation exercise reveals is necessary.

To view a recording use the Validations tab. Note depending on your connection method you may need to download the file so that it available locally, first. See below.

Recordings Scheduling

Clicking the Recordings tab will show the status of any Recordings:

The top section 'Device Scheduled Recordings' shows any recordings that have been scheduled for sometime in the future.

The 'Device Recordings' section shows any recordings that have occurred already and the file is present on the Vectors SD Card.

The Local Recording section is not shown when connected directly to the Vector via a web browser connection. Recordings can be viewed and validated in browser via an internally secure section.

The 'Local Recordings' section shows the downloaded recordings that can be viewed. When connected directly to  device via the RIFT standalone exe, 'Local' means on your laptops hard drive. But when viewing this tab via an Estate Manager login, 'Local' means the hard drive of the Estate Manager instance.

If using the RIFT exe to perform validation you will need to download the recording to local storage first.
If using an Estate Manager login to perform validation the recording will need to be downloaded to the EM hard drive before you can view it. The download process is usually configured by default to download once complete, but you may need to manually trigger the download if not.

To download a recording, click the three dots menu next to the on-device recording and choose the Synchronize option:

If using a web browser connection direct to the device there is no need to manually download a local copy of the recording first as the recording will be streamed to the browser window as required.
If using a web browser connection direct to the device note that a stable connection is required.
If you are having connection issues, the RIFT exe software is the recommended method of validating as the required file is available locally and so no connection to the device is required aside from the connection to download the file initially.
To view the recording use the Validation tab.
