Introduction
Once you have made a connection to a Vector via the RIFT exe software or via a web browser connection, there are a number of selectable tabs available.
This guide gives a brief description of each tab with a link to the main section for further reading.
Web browser or RIFT exe connection
When you first connect to a Vector the main Summary page is shown, as below, but you'll see additional selectable tabs along side the Summary tab:
This is the main landing page when you first connect to a Vector. It shows useful information such as its 'Uptime' (days since last power on), its Firmware version, IP and MAC, the capabilities of the particular Vector variant (Video, Height Measuring, Tilt support, etc), as well as the model number itself, how many nodes are connected, its timezone setting, as well as other identifying settings. No settings can be changed here, instead the 'Settings' tab should be used...
This is the main tab you'll use when first installing and configuring a Vector and will be returned to if ever changes are required in the future.
Under this tab, you can change the unique Site Settings, and Network settings such as IP address, subnet, Gateway and DNS settings as well as enabling DHCP, or changing port numbers.
Wide Tracker settings, for covering wide entrances with two or more devices linked together.
Outbound connections, for access devices remotely via Estate Manager.
Security settings, such as changing the login password and enforcing password entry, adding certificates and forcing HTTPS.
Count Logging settings.
If the optionally available USB IO Module is connected you will be able to configure the relay inputs and outputs via the Relay tab. The Relay tab is not shown if device is not relay capable.
Other data access method settings such as HTTP Post, MQTT and BACnet.
The main counting functionality - such as setting height filters, adding and modifying count lines and zones, setting Count modes etc.
Changing the video feed frame rate.
This tab is where you access the Diagnostics log of the device (and any other nodes that might be connected too). A lot of the entries are human readable, and self explanatory, such as, "System Clock changed" (a time sync was performed), but others are readable but may need some explanation, such as, "KCS is sill alive" (an entry made every day at midnight as a kind of 'ok' flag). These logs may need to be downloaded and emailed to Irisys if support is requested. Details of relevant log entries for diagnosing issues can be found here.
This tab provides a simple onboard graphical output of the counts that have been recorded by the device (and its nodes if applicable). This is in no way intended as an end user output view of count activity, but can help in diagnosing count bias issues, and resets.
This tab allows you to schedule validation recordings at specific dates and times, whereby the video view, Time of Flight data, and register changes are recorded into a file stored locally on the Vectors SD card. The intention of this is to play back the file in order to gauge count accuracy.
This is the tab where you access the recordings made earlier. Validating a recording can take some time, as you need to watch the recording, and count people as they cross counting lines or enter and leave any configured zones, in order to compare your results with what the Vector accomplished. The intention of this is either to prove that accuracy is high when questioned or to assist in the configuration process to ensure an accurate setup has been achieved - by analyzing any missed or incorrect counts further configuration refinements can be made.
Estate Manager Connection
It should be noted that connecting to a device via an Estate Manager connection shows some additional Estate Manager only tabs:
This tab allows you to add other settings of note which are stored in Estate Managers database rather than on device, like the Site ID, Device ID etc are. Some use cases are, for example, flagging devices for validation, noting specific network requirements by device, etc.
This tab shows a time line of significant events relating to the device. It shows when a device connects, disconnects and reconnects (handy for diagnosing network issues), when a device schedule runs and succeeds, such as a video snapshot or a backup was performed, and when a schedule fails such as errors relating to being able to pull video files or settings changes.
Used to specify a location/address of devices - handy for showing devices on Estate Managers built in map functionality, including highlighting regional based network outages etc.
This tab shows a lot of device health information, such as network quality and any related failed schedules. Things like the Round trip time in Ms and, if the network allows it, a trace route shown on the map. All very handy for diagnosing network problems
